I don't have patience.

some years of Carrd practice following tutorials, mixed with inspiration from various neocities sites because I cant be arsed to try to learn to code. I want to be good NOW god damn it.

a shrine is a website dedicated to a special thing that someone is passionate about. This is one of my favourite examples which I take inspiration from in my CSI: Las Vegas shrine, and here is another (I encourage you to check out this entire site!).

music

My music taste is a hot mess. Generally I spend a lot of time listening to metal (nwobhm, black metal, thrash metal, early power metal, melodic death metal, etc.), but I am big into bluesy rock, folk, a fair bit of pop, r&b, and more. scroll a bit further for some specific commentary on 5 of the albums shown below :)

here is an assortment of some of my favourite records over the years -- some are ones that have been constant staples in my listening routine, others I go through phases where I revisit and listen until I get sick of them. Most if not all are well-known artists, but for good reason. If I had to pick two to recommend that a lot of my friends and acquantainces haven't heard, I'd say PUP's The Dream is Over and The Warning's Keep Me Fed, largely because the angst and passion in both records have sustained me through a lot of bullshit in my life.Below I go into detail about five of my favourites from the selection above -- I encourage you to check them out, give them a listen, and let me know your thoughts in my email. I'm always happy to chat about music at any time, especially if it means making new friends!Feel free to follow my Spotify here, and check out my playlists. I've been doing monthly playlists since I was in high school, and it is one of my favourite things as a practice of emotional archiving.

Road Apples by The Tragically Hip

As much as Benedict Anderson's Imagined Communities book shaped my political worldview, he is very right in that national identity can be shaped by shared interests -- and one of two instances where I feel connected to whatever "being Canadian" is supposed to mean is when listening to The Hip. A perfect 10/10 for me.

Holy Diver by Dio

One of the best metal albums of all time, if not top 3 in the eighties. This one easily takes the top spot for 1983 (Sorry to Iron Maiden's Piece of Mind...) Although my friends and I love to dog on Ronnie's odd, nonsense lyricism, you can't deny the album goes so hard that you can ignore the lyrics not making sense and rock out anyway.

Blackwater Park by Opeth

This album was my first full Opeth album listen, and has been my favourite since. it is beautiful, haunting, heavy, calm, and depressing all in one, crafting a unique atmosphere that really helps them stand out. it is hard to describe the feeling of an Opeth album like this one, so give it a listen.

Nightbringers by The Black Dahlia Murder

This was the album that got me into melodeath fully beyond the surface level, easy-listening newer releases of Arch Enemy and Amon Amarth when I was in high school. Since then, it has served as a guitar inspiration and a great walking soundtrack in the cold Canadian winter months.

Victory Lap by Propagandhi

A beautiful album that is self-reflection/criticism, historical critique, and political commentary all in one. It made for a great primary source selection for my SOCI2820 Anarchism course essay, and has helped me think more about my political orientation online and in-person.

some of my current favourites released so far this year.
